21 May 2011, the 3rd INTERNATIONAL MARINE SCIENCE CONFERENCE – IMSC 2011 was held in Split, in the basement halls of Diocletian’s Palace, organised by the Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia and the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Split, under the auspices of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure and the City of Split.

The conference dealt with the present-day maritime affairs: safety of navigation, safeguard of marine environment, maritime law regulations, nautical tourism, port development, development of technologies for carriage of goods by sea, and interdisciplinary character of maritime activities. Besides the representatives of the Hydrographic Institute and the Faculty of Maritime Studies, foreign scientists and specialists also presented their papers at the conference, contributing to international importance of this event.

Organizers hope that this conference will encourage interest and promote the maritime orientation of the City of Split and a wider area.
