Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure (MSDI) is a special segment of the NSDI, which constitutes a development framework or the system for collecting, sharing, and managing the exchange of data and network services under regulations concerning the National Spatial Data Infrastructure. The MSDI is a result of the need for interoperability of spatial data and information between the terrestrial, coastal and marine environment.

Croatian MSDI relates to the INSPIRE Directive and the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) initiative.  As national hydrographic office, the HHI is responsible for establishing the Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure component and its integration into the NSDI.
