Complete exhibition space holdings provide an insight into Institute’s performance and work during its existence and this retrospective is just a reminder of the methods and instruments, equipment and accessories used in the work of Institute.
Eexhibition space is arranged in several exhibition units, showing the work of related departments (hydrographic, oceanographic, cartographic, nautical, reproduction, and IT), being the framework of Institute’s professional activity.
Adaptation of the part of former printing office into exhibition space lasted two years (2008 – 2010).
Exhibition space was officially opened on 14 November 2010, honoured with the presence of Dr Ivo Josipović, Croatian President, and many guests.
Exhibition space summarizes Institute’s past activities. It preserve valuable archive materials, appliances, instruments and equipment, offering visitors an insight into the development and continuity of the hydrographic activity in Eastern Adriatic.
Besides its important role in preserving the memory of a 200-year long tradition of the sea research, Museum is also used for educational purposes through guided visits for scholars, students and young scientists.
