On 24 September 2026, Vinka Kolić Bubić, representing the Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia (HHI), attended the "Days of Spatial Data Infrastructure of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina" conference in Sarajevo. The event brought together institutional representatives, industry experts and researchers from across the fields of spatial data infrastructure and geoinformation technologies.

As part of the session "Good Practice Examples and SDI Developments in BiH and the International Context", she delivered a presentation titled "The Maritime Component of the NSDI: GeoAdriatic, MSDI and Interoperable Spatial Data for Digital Navigation".

The presentation highlighted the role and significance of the Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia within the maritime safety system. It explored the importance of the maritime component of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI), the concept of Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure (MSDI), and the capabilities offered by the GeoAdriatic platform in connecting, accessing and exchanging interoperable marine spatial data.

Special emphasis was placed on the vital importance of high-quality, standardised and interoperable data for the ongoing evolution of digital navigation, the enhancement of maritime safety, and its application in marine spatial planning, environmental protection, and other areas of public interest.

Participation in the conference provided an excellent opportunity to share experiences and best practices with representatives from relevant regional and European institutions, whilst showcasing the HHI’s ongoing work in developing marine spatial data infrastructure.

The conference programme also covered the development of national spatial data infrastructures, Geoportal, digital twins, LiDAR technology, alongside modern models for managing and utilising geospatial information.
