HHI representative attends MSI Development & Implementation Workshop

By invitation and under the auspices of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), the Mediterranean and Black Seas Hydrographic Commission (MBSHC), and the Turkish Navy / Office of Navigation, Hydrography and Oceanography (TN-ONHO), the Hydrographic Institute participated in the Workshop on MSI Development & Implementation, which took place in Istanbul from 7 to 9 May 2024.

During this three-day workshop, through lectures and practical training the participants were familiarized with organization and functioning of NAVAREA Coordinators, organization, obligations and responsibilities of different national MSI Coordinators, and with procedures of collection, reception and broadcasting of Maritime Safety Information (MSI) in accordance with Joint IMO/IHO/WMO manuals and recommendations.

The importance of the World-Wide Navigational Warning Service (WWNWS), as a global framework for MSI coordination, was highlighted, and key responsibilities of national MSI Coordinators were emphasized, as well as their continuous education and cooperation to achieve a safe and sustainable maritime environment.

The HHI was represented by Zvonimir Drezga, who actively participated in the workshop, sharing knowledge and experience with representatives of other hydrographic offices.
