Second and third-year students from the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Split, specialising in Maritime Management and Maritime Technologies of Yachts and Marinas, visited the Croatian Hydrographic Institute (HHI) on 13 May 2026. Accompanied by Professor Marija Boban, PhD, the visit was organised as part of their field work for the "Communication Studies in the Maritime Sector" course.
As part of the visit, Director Vinka Kolić Bubić delivered an invited presentation entitled "Hydrography in the Era of Digital Navigation: Interoperability, S-100 and Maritime Safety Cyber Challenges", which introduced students to contemporary trends in the development of hydrography and digital navigation.
Alongside the Director, the programme was also hosted by her Assistant Director for Maritime Safety and Cartography, Tonći Panžić, PhD. He presented the Institute's activities related to the production and maintenance of official nautical charts, Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs), navigational publications, and other HHI operations.
The students also visited the Hydrography Museum, where a guided tour introduced them to the historical development of the hydrographic service on the eastern coast of the Adriatic and the significance of hydrographic activity for the safety of navigation.
This visit continues the long-standing cooperation between the Hydrographic Institute and the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Split, aiming to foster student interest in applying professional and scientific knowledge to the fields of maritime studies, hydrography, and maritime safety.
