Visit by students of the Split Nautical High School

On 24 October 2025, the Hydrographic Institute (HHI) welcomed 2nd grade students of the Split Nautical High School, nautical studies, accompanied by Professor Marijana De Marchi and Professor Drago Mimica.

During the visit, the students had the opportunity to learn about the Institute’s scope of activities, particularly about cartography and safety of navigation, which are both part of their curriculum course Terrestrial navigation (practical work). Tonći Panžić, PhD, Director’s Assistant for Safety of Navigation and Cartography, held lectures and a presentation on the current activities and work of the Institute. During the visit, the students learned about the process of producing and updating the navigational charts as well as about the production and distribution of navigational publications and Notices to Mariners.

They also made a tour of the Museum of Hydrography where they learned about the Institute’s and hydrography history.

The students also received navigational charts as a gift from HHI to use in their classroom and practical work.
